Valentine

Its valentine here again people, the 14th of February, the day where much love is shared among lovers, friends and family. Mostly lovers though. the day Valentine is associated with love right from the medieval period and the English Renaissance where He (st. valentine) founded the 'The charter of the court of law' that handled love contracts, betrayals and violence against women to February 14; mid-February is an unlikely time for birds to be mating in England.
How this is associated with the romantic sensations in the air is the work of a man Geoffrey Chaucer, a poet who wrote "For this was on St. Valentine's Day, when every bird cometh there to choose his mate."
this  date would correspond to the modern 23 February, a time when some birds have started mating and nesting in England.
The truest story of it all is
that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. The imprisoned Valentine actually sent the first “valentine” greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl–possibly his jailor’s daughter–who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed “From your Valentine,” an expression that is still in use today. The stories all emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic and–most importantly–romantic figure.

That MATE is how the valentine became a day of buying roses, cards and chocolate became necessary for all ladies. As for THE CAPTAIN I'''LLLLL JUST SIT WITH MY RUM AND ENJOY THE HER BEAUTY AND HOW SHE MAKES ME FEEL. Happy Valentine sailors!!! TO THE NORTH!!!!
